NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY
HENDRY COUNTY STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP (SHIP) PROGRAM
Hendry County hereby announces that funds for Housing Assistance are available from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program. The Funding Years (FY) 2015/16 and (FY) 2016/17 in the amount of $350,000 has been allocated for each funding year. Funds will be made available for owner-occupied housing rehabilitation or emergency repairs funding. Funds used for first-time homebuyers’ down payment assistance are not available at this time due to a waiting list established.
Hendry County will be hosting two homeowner orientations to explain the program details and answer questions applicants may have. The first homeowner orientation will be conducted on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 5:30 pm at the Hendry County Annex Offices, Janet B. Taylor Auditorium, 1100 S. Olympia Street, Clewiston, FL 33440. The second homeowner orientation will be conducted on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 5:30 pm at the Hendry County Extension Office, located at 1085 Pratt Boulevard, LaBelle, FL 33975.
Individual applications for owner occupied housing rehabilitation and emergency repairs will be available beginning on Friday, April 28, 2017 through Friday, May 26, 2017 or until funds are expended. The applications will be available on the Hendry County website and at the Hendry County Housing Department locations at 133 N. Bridge Street, LaBelle, FL and 1100 S. Olympia Street Clewiston, Florida. Contact the Hendry County Housing, Consulting Firm, Guardian CRM, Inc. at (888) 482-7393 for more information. All applications must be received by the Housing Department, 133 N. Bridge Street, LaBelle, Florida by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017. The program does not reimburse for repairs already made to a home.
All SHIP assistance recipients must agree to comply with all SHIP Program criteria and requirements as set forth in Chapter 67-37, Florida Administrative Code and are frequently modified and amended. The Hendry County Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to close any program application period by Board resolution. Hendry County SHIP programs do not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, familial status, disability, age or any other protected classes.
