Subject: Curbside Garbage Pickup/Right-of-Way Clearing
-
- Please be advised that Hendry County
is in the process of improving all roads and clearing right-of-ways
in the Pioneer Plantation area. This is being done in an effort
to provide residential curbside garbage pickup and to recognize
all platted roads by placing signs and clearing the easements,
as well as providing a fire break. No new construction of roads
and ditches will be implemented at this time.
-
- Please remove all obstructions
you may have in any of the public easements. Examples are fences,
gates, sheds, etc. Those that are not removed by October 1,
2002, will be demolished by County forces. Attached is a map
with all platted roads.
-
- The anticipated date for curbside
pickup to begin is October 1, 2002. The annual fee will be $183.00
verses the convenience dumpster rate of $120.00. All dumpsters
will be removed, when curbside pickup is implemented.
-
- Pickup days are Mondays and Thursdays.
No pickup on New Years, Thanksgiving and Christmas days. Furniture
and/or white goods are on an on call basis and at no additional
cost. Construction debris is a special on call pickup, with
an additional charge. (Florida Recycling 675-2481) Residential
tires may be placed along side regular garbage. Yard trash/trimmings
are to be placed along side regular garbage. Tree trimmings
are to be tied and bundled and are not to exceed 4" in diameter
and 4' in length, leaves are to be bagged.
-
- Construction debris, loose garbage,
automotive or boat parts, hazardous waste or commercial waste
will not be picked up.
-
- It has been requested by some of
the residents that they be permitted to place their garbage cans
at the end of their particular road, where it intersects with
a county road or main thoroughfare. This would eliminate the
need for the garbage trucks to travel your road, thus causing
less wear and tear and large truck traffic in a residential area.
If this is your preference, place your can at the preferred
intersection and it will be picked up. Any road with no garbage
out will not be traveled. If your road is inaccessible to the
garbage truck, place your garbage at the nearest accessible curbside.
-
- Remember: All garbage must be
placed in a manner so as not to cause a litter problem, i.e.;
cans with lids, instead of bags, preventing animals from scattering.
Cans, bundles and bags are not to exceed 35 gallons and/or 40
pounds in weight and must be placed within 6' of the curbside.
Cans must have handles and tight fitting lids. No drums or
barrels.
